Delayed...

Jackie had her visa interview today. It turns out that we didn't provide the proper information on a couple of the myriad of forms we filled out. Her visa to the US is being delayed for at least a couple months as a result.

This really screws up our plans for the next several months.

All day I've had a feeling like someone just punched me in the stomach.

Sorry to hear that dude. Don't sweat it too much, everything eventually works out- just sometimes takes longer than we like. And the best thing to do when your plans get cramped is make new plans. All the hullaballoo will be just a memory when you finally get to show her "Beautiful Country."

Dealing with immigration sucks. I'm glad I don't have to do any of that anymore. Hope it goes through the process quickly.

The problem had to do with the financial documents.

They need my tax returns as well as my sponsor's.

There was also a discrepancy about needing both the I-134 as well as the I-864. Both are, in fact, needed.

And my sponsor included the past three years' tax records: 2005, 2006, 2007. Well, they want the 2008 one. That was a problem for the interview because as of early March, my sponsor hadn't filed yet.

The interviewer told Jackie that she/we shouldn't worry, everything is fixable. Our case is still open and fine. We just need to clear up these financial forms.

It's just going to delay us a couple months. Argh...

2008! It's not even due yet! Bureaucrats!

Best wishes for the red tape; hope to see y'all stateside soon.

Right! That's what we were thinking, Taylor!

The interview was March, 18th, which is before April, 15th.

But this is the USCIS (US Customs and Immigration Service) we're dealing with, so their wants and needs are pretty much whatever they feel like asking for.

Sounds like China is going to put a fight up for your little lady, should I talk with them, make a few calls?
