Blogspot has been blocked in China.
I have to assume that this has happened because the calendar is getting closer to a rather, um, sensitive date. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will in the coming weeks.
For the record, this is the third time my blogging host has been blocked in China. Xanga.com was blocked in the spring of '07, Godaddy.com sites were blocked days before the Olympics in Beijing in '08, and now Blogspot has been blocked in May of '09.
Oh the joys of being a China blogger.
Seeing the furious pace I've been blogging over the past few months, this is probably a good time for me to slow down. I'll still post, just probably not every day.
To all of my readers out there, thanks for continuing to read my rantings on this blog. As I've said before, exploring China with all of you on a daily basis is wonderful. I love doing it and I appreciate the good will that so many of you have given me.

I never understood how they blocked people from reading the blogs, but not from posting.
In almost four years, I think my blogspot blog was blocked four or five times. They can't seem to make up their minds whether they want it blocked or not.
Fahrenheit 74.125.91.191; the IP address at which words were burned.
I think they aren't blocking all of Blogspot, only specific blogs (at least I'm told that my blog is still fully accessible).
No Thomas, you're blog is also blocked. So stupid. My other favorite non-China Blogspot blogs are also blocked.
I've had a couple questions already about how I updated this blog even though it's blocked. Let me give you the secret...
ProxyboxonlineIt is the best proxy server I've found. A really slick way to surf.
Hopefully this black-out will end soon. But I'm not holding my breath.
It's definitely not blocked in Shanghai. I checked with someone there who has a standard internet connection with no fancy stuff to get around the firewall. Maybe it's blocked in some parts of China but not in others? No idea.
That's weird Thomas. I just tried all of the Blogspot blogs I regularly check and none worked. Yours and a few other non-China blogs were on that list. Nothing.
Maybe some places and not others are blocked? I don't know.
There are a few threads on Danwei.org and several other blogs on Google News Blog Search that are all saying that everything Blogger is being blocked in China right now.
Shanghai apparently held on for an extra day, but I'm told it's also completely blocked now.
Oh no.
Shanghai is nothing of extra. Also my Shanghai Blog serenylaszlo.blogspot.com is not available.
So lets take a break.
I'm in Shenyang and my blog is blocked too. Frustrating!
I enjoyed reading your blog, please read mine and let me know what you think!
